What is it like to wake up and find yourself stateless? On August 9th,1972 Idi Amin gave the approximately 80K Asians in Uganda 90 days to leave or suffer the consequences. Thus began the remarkable journey of the Gujaratis, Ismailis, Goans, and Sikhs, or Asians as they were known in East Africa, as they escaped Uganda to eventually settle in Canada and other parts of the western world. This event changed the course of their lives, East African Asian and Indigenous African, and today they are still affected by the trauma of colonization.
